I really loved sharing last week’s ordinary moment of Pickle’s first experience of the swing, so couldn’t resist sharing this week’s ordinary moment too. If you follow me on social media, you’ll have been inundated on Wednesday with posts celebrating my first time running with the pushchair – I even uploaded a video to Facebook! It’s such a tiny little thing, but just taking the plunge and going on my first run made me feel on top of the world.
After first deciding the weather was too gloomy, I surprised myself by my motivation to get out once the sun broke through the clouds. I quickly got changed into my running gear (before I changed my mind), plopped Pickle in the pram and out we went.
Back in the Autumn, I’d been going running weekly with my Mum as we were taking part in an organised Couch to 5k programme. If you’ve never heard of Couch to 5k, you’re seriously missing out. It’s a very easy run-walk schedule that can turn any one into a bonafide 5k runner. It builds up slowly by integrating short runs with recovery walks and as the weeks go by, the lengths of the runs increase and the walks decrease… until… before you know it… you’ve ran for at least 35 minutes straight. We’re lucky that our local council has partnered with the local running clubs to run organised training sessions that follow the programme – which is the BEST motivation to know that you’ve got a time and place to be every week especially to run.
I knew that I wanted to start running with the pushchair so that I could easily begin to exercise during the day with Pickle in tow but it’s SO much harder to run pushing the pram than on my own so I decided to restart the Couch to 5k programme again to build up my pram-pushing-endurance. One session down, and I’m feeling good! Now just to keep going.
I grinned and smiled like a loon once I’d finished my five minute cool down, and seeing the sun shining on the lake was more than the reward I needed. Fingers crossed this glorious weather continues so that I have all the motivation I need to keep up with the runs and start to getting back to my pre-baby fitness levels.

I loved doing couch to 5K but I ended up getting a really bad chest infection so had to stop, I’ll go back to it soon. It looks like it was a great day for it #TheOrdinaryMoments
