Looking back, we had a pretty special October last year. I hope for the same again this year! With a few exciting days out planned and a special Christening to go to later this month, 2017 is already looking to follow in last year’s footsteps so I think we’re in for a treat.
One Year Ago – National Trust fun
We spent a LOT of time outdoors this time last year, and I hope to do the same again this October! I happily made use of our National Trust membership by visiting both Charlecote Park (complete with almost getting stampeded by stags!) and Packwood House. There’s some lovely photos from both of these days out that I’ll know I’ll cherish forever.
It really takes me back to those days – when I felt I was starting to get the hang of this parenting malarky. Pickle was out of that fresh newborn stage and it was getting somewhat easier to spend proper days out. He was old enough to take some of the sights in, and young enough to still have regular snoozes that were perfect for making the most of a coffee shop or having a good natter. I do miss the days when all my NCT friends were all off work together. With most of our group now back at work, it’s getting trickier for us all to meet up but nevertheless, we still do when we can.
October 2016 also saw our Non-Christening Christening for Pickle. If you’re new around here, we wanted to do something special to celebrate his arrival but as we’re not particularly religious, having a Christening didn’t fit right with us. Instead, we made a ‘big thing’ about his first walk up the Clent Hills – a place my family has been going to for years, decades and generations. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, filled with some of our nearest and dearest, and rounded off with an excellent Pork Bap! LPD runs a hog roast business on the side, and he’s blooming good at it!
I’m already planning another National Trust day out for this coming Saturday as there’s an Apple Festival on at Hanbury Hall which sounds quite fun. I’ll have to try and squeeze in some more visits to beat last year’s number. It’s even more fun to explore with Pickle now, who can splash in puddles, wheel his ToddleBike around and kick a ball. October is a pretty cool month, really.
#OurYesterYear Linky
And now it’s your turn. I’d love for you to take a look back at the blog posts or photos you took in October last year (or in 2015 and beyond if you fancy!). Enjoy the little trip down memory lane and feel free to join in the fun here by adding links to your old blog posts or to a new reflective post. If you’re not a blogger, use the #OurYesterYear hashtag on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook to share an old photo.
How it works
On the 1st of every month, a new #OurYesterYear linky will open, and remain open until the end of the month. There are several ways you can take part:
- Link up with the URL of a past blog post written in this month but in a previous year (it could be one year ago, two years ago or even ten years ago!)
- Link up with a new blog post that reflects upon a post or posts written previously (this is what I’ll be doing!)
- Use the hashtag #OurYesterYear on social media
You can add up to two links over the course of the month if you’d like, and although there aren’t any rules or requirements as such, it’s nice to share the love and take a look at at least another couple of bloggers’ posts too. If you’d like to add this badge to your post, please feel free to copy and paste the code below.

Such a good idea for a linky. I’ve really been enjoying our “rediscover this day” feature of Google Photos lately; this is a gorgeous time of year!
Thanks for hosting – I’ll no doubt be back.
I love those photos of you and Little Pickle. Amazing to look back and think that you have a handle on parenting – you need to share your tips because I’m not sure I have yet!!

Aww what a lovely idea – times flies so quickly, so having a chance to look back from over a year ago is such a nice thing to do 🙂

Good thing you made it out alive and away from those stags. Being outdoors is always lovely 🙂
