Today is our first wedding anniversary! What a day that was, and what a year it has been…

Our wedding day was magical, filled with love and laughter. It’s a day that overwhelmed us with how wonderful our friends and family were! Our wedding was very much a DIY affair, and we absolutely couldn’t have done it without our closest friends and family lending a hand and quite frankly – working their butts off to make sure everything went smoothly! That made it all the more special, and I’ll be forever grateful.

I think my brothers in particular spent the weekend being: van drivers, furniture movers, babysitters, barmen, cleaners, hosts, caterers, waiters, DJs… the list goes on.

We legally got married at a small intimate ceremony at the registry office in the morning, before having a big family breakfast together then going our separate ways to ‘get dolled up’. Our photographer took our gorgeous wedding portraits at a local National Trust property Baddesley Clinton, where LPD volunteered at the time, and then we went to Hatton Village Hall to hold our own informal ceremony for friends and family, followed by a wedding ‘indoor’ picnic and dancing!

Here are a selection of my favourite wedding photos, taken by the WONDERFUL Louise Holgate.

I always hoped I would get married, but I never dreamed I’d be so lucky to marry a man like LPD. A man so kind, so generous and so unbelievably loving. I often wonder how on earth I deserve him! There’s not a day that has gone by when I don’t feel like the luckiest girl. On our wedding day, I vowed to never take him for granted – and I haven’t.

Tonight we will be celebrating quietly. A cosy night in with some nice food and just enjoying being with each other. Very soon our little family of two will become three, and I wouldn’t want to be taking on this adventure with anyone else. I do have a paper related gift for LPD… I hope he likes it! Watch this space…!

LPD: I love you. With all of my heart. Today and every day. Thank you for absolutely everything. Happy First Wedding Anniversary.
