I’ve not written about it in detail on the blog because I absolutely respect LPD’s privacy when it comes to things like this, but he’s had a really rough start to the year. For the past couple of months, he’s really not been himself and whilst I can’t blame him for feeling down, frustrated and exhausted, it’s been difficult to know what I can do to make him feel better. Although I don’t really believe that material possessions are the route to happiness, I jumped at the chance to receive a gorgeous wooden Jord Watch for him in the hope that a little men’s watch treat might do him the world of good.
I’d heard of Jord Watches from a few blogging friends, and always loved how they looked so different and unique – there isn’t really anything to compare it to in the UK at the moment. Their watches are made from a variety of woods, with a focus on sustainability and modern styling. I was really intrigued by the concept of a man’s wooden watch and as LPD (Little Pickle’s Dad) can often suffer from dry, irritated skin, there was something about the idea that made me think it might be a bit better for him, and less irritable somehow.
[epq-quote align=”align-right”]The grain seen in walnut is typically straight, but can be irregular including: burl, crotch, and curly variants. The texture is uniform, with a moderate natural luster.[/epq-quote] He choose to receive this navy blue and walnut Reece design. I did debate whether to pick one for him and have it delivered as a surprise but I’m glad I spilled the beans and let him choose as we definitely have different tastes when it comes to watches! That said, we both love this men’s watch design. I think it looks super smart, and I love the contrasting face colour. I feel like it would suit a lot of different outfits too as the colours are quite easy to coordinate with.
Some Spring ‘Get-up-and-Go’ with Jord
[epq-quote align=”align-left”]We make our watches for people who don’t just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go.[/epq-quote] The arrival of his watch has coincided with a bit of warmer weather, and despite the odd shower of rain and a complete downpour on Monday, it does feel like Spring has arrived. Jord’s motto of having watches for people who don’t just have somewhere to be, but somewhere to go has really struck a chord with me and I love the idea that perhaps the Spring marks a turning point for LPD this year. Alongside his full time job, he runs a sideline business that is very seasonal and so together with his business partner, they’re beginning to kick it up a gear now. I love the drive and passion he has for his little business and if last year is anything to go by, Arrow Valley Hog Roast will be a great success again this summer.
Maybe I should treat myself to one of Jord’s women’s watches in the hope it’ll give me a bit of extra motivation too!
A treat for you too!
